Which laptop and other technology are you carrying in 2025? Take part
Laptops. Tablets. Smartphones. Power banks. Noise-cancelling ear and phone phones. Cables, chargers, adaptors. Over the years, the tech we carry has changed and expanded, and so too have our travel infrastructure and movement patterns.
As a designer of secure laptop backpacks, I keep a close eye on how the smallest changes in technology use and travel evolve. Your belongings and how you carry it shape the way I build my backpacks. But I need your help. In 2025, I want to know: what tech are you carrying, and when are you travelling with it?
Take the tech/travel 6-minute survey and help build the next generation of laptop backpack around you. In return, I’ll use this data to create laptop backpacks that are made to match your needs: as easy to use, functional, secure, and versatile as possible. Reflecting real tech use in 2025.

The Tech Evolution: How Our Needs Have Changed
Think back to 2015. A laptop, laptop charger, and a smartphone were all many of us carried. Fast forward to 2025, and the list for some has changed. The rise of remote working, hybrid offices, and digital nomad lifestyles means we’re using tech differently and travelling further with it.
Our needs are shifting, and with them, our expectations for the bags we carry.
Why Your Input Matters
The reason Riut exists is to create backpacks and accessories that allow you to flow - truly flow - through the city, airport, train station and transit points. To achieve this, that means hearing how you really travel and seeing how I can dream up useful ideas that really work in my designs. Whether it’s improving the materials used, refining the placement of zips, or rethinking how we access our gear, your feedback is invaluable.
If we're not carrying laptops anymore, I'll shift to build infrastructure for the tech - if any - we are carrying. If heavier laptops are making a comeback, I’ll be focussing on how protective the base is how the straps are distributing weight, for example.
The Future of Laptop Backpacks
The best way for backpacks to evolve is for laptop backpack designers - like me - to hear directly from super commuters, city travellers, students and digital nomads like you about how you're really travelling and using your tech. I can take your experiences to build new designs and innovate new features for the future now.
My company is called Riut (pronouced "riot"). These letters stands for Revolution in user thinking. I promise - and find it most practical for design - to revolve all my thinking about my RiutBag users. I ask backpack and laptop users what they carry and how they carry it so I can build something that works for them. Every RiutBag I’ve ever designed has been shaped by real user data from commuters, students, travellers, and professionals around the world.
To me, this is the best way to be building the future: in direct collaboration with laptop backpack users.
Take the Survey
Are you commuting with a Lenovo ThinkPad or a MacBook Air? Using noise-cancelling headphones or ear pods? Travelling with a power bank, or do you always find a plug?
I don't make laptop backpacks to work for everyone in the world. I shape RiutBags around the travel of the people who help me build them: so I'll be your personal backpack designer. Your answers will directly inform the next generation of RiutBags and the next RiutBag should work specifically for you. Take the 6-minute survey now, and help me build the next laptop backpacks.
What’s in It for You?
Beyond seeing your ideas influence the design of new RiutBags, I’ll also enter your email address into a lottery with the chance to win one of the new laptop backpack designs you've helped create. Together, we’ll explore how people like you are travelling, working, and carrying their tech in 2025.
So, whether you’re a super commuter, a frequent flyer, a hybrid worker, or a student, I want to hear from you. Let’s create laptop backpacks that fit seamlessly into your life – and help make every journey smoother.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
